The fresh convenience cold chain was an area discussed by RD&Ts Judith Evans at the Freshconex exhibition in Berlin recently. The exhibition which covers almost all the halls at Berlin’s massive Messe exhibition centre must be one of the largest food trade shows in the world. As part of the exhibition the Eurofruit and United Fresh run a business forum with invited speakers who present the latest information on topics that are considered critical to exhibition attendees. It was therefore an honour for RD&T to be invited to speak on the fresh food cold chain and to discuss new and exciting refrigeration options that are available and will potentially become available in the future. In her talk Judith spoke about a number of options to improve the current cold chain and then presented information on a range of novel technologies such as air cycle, magnetic, electrocaloric, Stirling, acoustic and adsorption refrigeration that are currently either being further developed.
